Combined Federal Campaign Under Way

“Loose change” fundraisers have kicked off at the naval base in support of the ongoing Combined Federal Campaign effort. Look for secure containers at commands across the base to donate spare change. Change will be collected through Dec. 5.

All Hands Thanksgiving

The Officers’ Club will host a traditional Thanksgiving Day buffet for all hands with base access. The popular celebration includes all the traditional favorites and seating times are from noon to 4 p.m. Advance ticketing is required and available at the Officers’ Club Monday - Friday, from 9-11 a.m. and 2-5 p.m. Tickets are $35 for adults, $17.50 for children ages 8-12, and children ages 4-7 are $10.50. Children 3 and under are free but still need a ticket. For more information, call the club at 401-841-1442.

Leftovers Lunch

All hands with base access are invited to an All-You-Can-Eat Thanksgiving Leftovers Lunch at the Officers' Club on Friday, Nov. 28, 11 a.m.-3 p.m. The cost is $9 and there is no advance ticketing.

Breakfast with Santa

Families with routine base access can enjoy breakfast with Santa on Saturday, Dec. 6, at the Officers’ Club. The festivities include a breakfast buffet, pictures with Santa, and arts and crafts activities. Seating times are from 9-11:30 a.m.

Advance ticketing is required and tickets are available at the Officers’ Club Monday - Friday, from 9-11 a.m. and 2-5 p.m. The cost is $20 for adults and $10 for children ages 4-12. Children 3 and under are free but still need a ticket. For more information, call 401-841-1442.

Pictures with Santa

MWR will host Pictures with Santa at the Seaview Lanes Bowling Center on Saturday, Dec. 13, 11 a.m.-1 p.m. All hands with base access are invited to attend. For more information, call 401-841-4293.

Holiday Food Drive

The Chapel of Hope is running its annual Caring and Sharing program to ensure that all members of the Navy Newport community are able to enjoy traditional Thanksgiving and December holiday meals. Collection boxes are at locations throughout the base, and all hands are invited to donate nonperishable items. Cash donations may be made through the purchase of a gift card to the commissary or local supermarkets. For more information, call the Chapel of Hope at 401-841-2234.

Edaville Railroad

Edaville Railroad is offering Military Appreciation Weekend Nov. 21-23, just in time for the annual Festival of Lights celebration. Military personnel will be admitted free and family members at half price ($10) with a valid military ID. For more information on activities and schedules, visit edaville.com.

Spouse Club Festivities

The Military Spouses of Newport will host a Fall Welcome Social and Ornament Exchange at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 11, in Spruance Lobby inside the Naval War College. Dress is holiday business casual, and current and prospective members are invited to attend. Bring a new wrapped ornament to exchange. Light refreshments will be served.
