Congressmen Talk

Senator Sheldon Whitehouse and U.S. Congressman David Cicilline will appear at the Elks Lodge on Sunday, May 20, at 2 p.m. The event is hosted by the Newport Democratic City Committee and is free and open to the general public.

Whitehouse is recognized as the voice in federal government for climate control. He is a member of the Senate Committee on Environment & Public Work and the Senate Committee on the Judiciary as well as being on the Senate Finance Committee and on the Commission on Security & Cooperation in Europe.

Congressman Cicilline is Co- Chair of the House Democratic Policy & Communications Committee. He is a member of both the House Committee on the Judiciary and the House Committee on Foreign Affairs. He is also member of the Congressional Buy American Caucus and the Creative Rights Caucus.

Both congressmen are strong advocates for human and civil rights as well as being strong proponents for education and employment opportunities for all, a clean environment, safe streets, and for regulations that help small businesses to thrive.
