Organ Recitals

The Church of Saint John the Evangelist, Washington and Willow streets, will offer organ recitals on Sundays from June 17 through Sept. 2, (except Aug. 5 and 12) with three identical programs on each date at 2:45, 5:45 and 7:45 p.m. There will be a special 40-minute program at the 5:45 p.m. show on July 15, which includes choir music. For the kickoff weekend, which coincides with the annual Secret Garden Tours, there will be added programs on June 15-17, at 11:45 am, 12:45 and 1:45 p.m. Donations welcome. 401-848-2561.

Hymnathon

On Saturday, June 23, at the Church of Saint John the Evangelist, Washington and Willow streets, will hold a “Hymnathon” to benefit the August 1-15 educational tour to England for the St. John’s Adult Choir and the Professional Choristers of the Choir School of Newport County. 401-848-2561.

Becoming a Self-Reliant and Resilient Family

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Chapel, 177 Miantonomi Ave., Middletown, continues its series of one-hour classes designed to help military couples, single servicemen and women, families dealing with work-related separation, and leaders who interact with them. Meetings are at 6 p.m. on Sundays through June 24. For more information contact Elder and Sister Anderson at 435- 459-1729.

Judah Touro Lecture

The lecture, “Convinced: Quaker Women and Liberty of Conscience in Early New England,” will take place on Sunday, June 24, at 4 p.m. at Touro Synagogue, 85 Touro St. Reservations are required. Cost is $8 per person. Each ticket may also be used at a later date for one tour of Touro Synagogue and the Loeb Visitors’ Center. Trinity Volunteers

Trinity Church is seeking volunteers to welcome visitors and give tours. If you can spare three hours a week, enjoy meeting people from near and far, have good communication skills, and like history and architecture, consider training to become a tour guide at Trinity Church.
