Middletown Ballot Questions

In addition to three statewide questions, Middletown residents will be asked to vote on 10 Charter amendments on Nov. 6:

Amendments to Middletown Home Rule Charter

. To confirm the Town Council’s power to appoint alternate municipal judges in the event of vacancies.

. To provide the Town administration with additional flexibility by allowing the duties of the tax collector and the human resources manager to be separated from those of the Finance Director.

. To require that the town engineer be a registered professional engineer.

. To clarify the process for amending and reviewing the Charter.

. To ensure that school department purchase vouchers are signed by two people, rather than one, by requiring that the school committee clerk be a member of the school committee.

. To make the appointment of a Deputy Town Clerk optional.

. To make the appointment of a Deputy Police Chief optional.

. To make the appointment of a Deputy Fire Chief optional.

. To make the appointment of a Deputy Finance Director optional.

. To make the appointment of a Town Engineer optional.
